Some Manhattan voters must cast ballots at “Trump Place”
In response, NYC sets up new polling site in
Chelsea-Clinton neighborhood
On the Friday before the November 8 Presidential election, many New York City residents were unpleasantly surprised when they finally looked at their voting pamphlets.
According to the Guardian, the official polling site address for people living in sections of Riverside Boulevard, in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, is: Trump Place, 180 Riverside Boulevard.
Meyer Eisenberg, a long-time area resident was aghast that he was being forced to cast his vote in a building named Trump Place.
“I couldn’t believe it. I opened the voting information this morning, showed it to my wife Esther and told her it was a shanda. All Esther could say was 'Oy, gevalt'!”
New York City election officials, concerned that the presence of the Trump Place polling site would depress voter turnout, immediately announced the establishment of a new polling place for disaffected Trump Place voters.
According to Paul Poller, an election department spokesman, the city has added an additional polling place in the Chelsea-Clinton neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan.
To ensure that the department is not accused of setting up this new polling place to “fix the election” for Secretary Clinton, Poller announced that the voting booths would be installed at the Chelsea-Clinton neighborhood pub, Rudy’s Bar & Grill.”
It was not clear whether the choice of the pub was influenced by rabid Trump surrogate and chief Clinton tormentor, Rudy Giuliani, who as mayor, attempted to change the name of the neighborhood to Reagan-Bush.
