Breaking News: Hillary Clinton clarifies ‘basket of deplorables’ comment

Says she was talking about the San Francisco 49er football team

On the last Sunday prior to Tuesday’s election, and following the San Francisco 49ers 7^th straight loss, a 41-23 shellacking at the hands of the New Orleans Saints, Hillary Clinton sought to finally end the controversy over her “basket of deplorables” remark, a comment that has been haunting her for months.

At a rally in Philadelphia to cheering Eagles fans Mrs. Clinton said, “My reference to a ‘basket of deplorables’ was misinterpreted at the time. When I made that statement, I was clearly talking about the San Francisco 49er football team. Their performance today and over the last number of weeks simply proves my point – they are truly deplorable.”

When asked if the campaign was concerned that calling the 49ers deplorable would hurt her in the Bay Area, campaign spokesperson and former 49er Hall of Famer Jerry Rice said, “Look, Hillary is going to get 90%+ of the San Francisco vote anyway. And, from what I’ve heard, the folks out there are so depressed about the team that they agree that the Niners are deplorable which might mean, after this clarification, she could get over 95% of the vote.”
