Trump Ukraine comments result in job offer from Putin

News with a Twist

Donald Trump predicts Russia will not send forces into Ukraine

“He’s not going into Ukraine, O.K., just so you understand.”

In an unprecedented development, the Trump campaign announced today that in the “very, very, very unlikely event that Donald J. Trump does not win the upcoming U.S. presidential election," Mr. Trump was considering accepting the position of deputy president and chief foreign affairs spokesman of the Russian Federation.

According to Russian sources, Trump was offered the position by his good friend and ally, Russian president Vladimir V. Putin, after Putin watched Trump’s interview on the ABC News program “This Week.”

In the interview with George Stephanopoulos, Trump said that if he were president of the United States, President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia would not send his forces into Ukraine; this, despite the fact that Russia has had troops on the ground in Ukraine for nearly two years.

“He’s not going into Ukraine, O.K., just so you understand,” Mr. Trump, the Republican nominee, said when the issue came up. “He’s not going to go into Ukraine, all right? You can mark it down. You can put it down. You can take it anywhere you want.”

“Well, he’s already there, isn’t he?” Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted.

“O.K., well, he’s there in a certain way,” Mr. Trump replied.

Sources indicate that after seeing the interview Putin told his aides, “We have to get this Trump guy on our side one way or the other, if not as American president, then as a senior member of our regime. Remember comrades, we have built our whole foreign policy on lies and obfuscation and as good as we are, this Trump guy will bring us to another level.”

Sources indicate that there was some confusion in the Trump camp regarding accepting Putin’s offer as his staff was trying to determine the definition of  “obfuscation.”
