VW to Introduce All-Electric Camper Van
Will Claim Range of 31.0 Miles
VW announced today that it would
be introducing an all-new, all-electric Long-Range Camper van. This
break-through vehicle will be introduced in the U.S. in early 2017.
VW claims that although the
vehicle has been tested to deliver 310 miles on one electric charge, it will be
marketed with a range of 31.0 miles in order to avoid the kind of controversy
VW encountered in its emission cheating scandal.
VW spokesman Dieter Wolfschmidt
confirmed the discrepancy in range saying, “We did not want to confuse and
disappoint our valued customers again so we are selling this car with a claimed
range of 31.0 miles. In fact, we are so confident of this 31.0 mileage claim, if
any of our customers actually achieve the tested range of 310 miles, we will be
compensating them for their troubles with with coupons for Sauerbraten,
Schnitzel and Fränkische Bratwurst redeemable at their favorite neighborhood
German restaurant.” Wolfschmidt concluded his comments by reminding customers,
“As always, your mileage may vary”.
